According to a recent survey conducted among public utilities, the energy transition can only succeed if the public are truly on board.

Some 91 per cent of regional and local public utilities regard public participation as "important" or "very important" for the success of the energy transition. This is shown by a survey among public utilities conducted by the German Association of Local Utilities (VKU). Almost half of the companies that took part say that they have had positive experience with the involvement of citizens in infrastructure projects in the energy sector in the last ten years.
